I love my saw
Sunday, August 22, 2010
I'm not so keen on my geeky vintage safety glasses, but my new saw is fantastic. I've got sawdust in my hair, sawdust up my nose, sawdust in my underwear...and I'm loving it.
I got so excited to finally get started on my project that I skipped a couple of steps, then had to backtrack, which cost me some wasted material, but I'm back on track again.
It is so nice to, when I need a piece of wood a certain size, bzzzt, have it....so much faster, easier and neater than cutting everything with my little hand saw and miter box.
Aw, you were made for each other! :D Glad to know it's everything you hoped for.

Oh, it is. It's very well built, it's not too loud, and all the sawdust collects neatly under the table (there's a port to attach a vacuum cleaner to, but I need to get an attachment, mine won't fit), which means I can use it in my studio and don't have to lug it outside. It's less of a mess than cutting by hand, because all the sawdust is contained in a neat out of the way pile. In fact, the sawdust everywhere I referred to in my post is from sanding, not cutting.

How very cool! The glasses, too - and as long as you don't have sawdust in your eyes...
My project took a turn this weekend - I had looked everywhere for one thing to put in it and finally decided to make something, instead, which is turning out kind of odd, but now I like the idea of making the thing instead of buying something similar.
You make just about everything you put in the gifts you have given me, so why should I get off easy?

Ascension, I can't upload a picture of what I'm working on because it's a surprise for Susan (we make each other a Halloween present every year). I'll post pictures after we've both received our presents.

Oh, I'm such a burden - no one gets to see the project because of me... am just going to go off alone with no computer access, so go ahead and post it, because I'll just be over there in the corner, not looking at all...
Hmmpphfff
Not working, is it?
Will you at least post a picture if you do cut a finger off?
