busy, busy, happy busy
this weekend's goal is to finish the kitchen

thank goodness for Mom

Mom will tell me when I've messed up.  Mom will tell me the word that's short for refrigerator is fridge, not frig.  Mom will give me that look when I try to argue with her.

Frig is, of course, a vulgar slang word (though not one I use), so I had, in essence, written fuck across the front of my refrigerator.  Yikes.

Which makes me wonder about the lot of you...  Did you read it as I intended to write it?  Did you think I was trying to be funny?  Why didn't anyone say something?

Thankfully it was only on with stickers, which were easy to pull off and replace.

I love you, Mom.  Thank you.

That is very funny! I saw that, but didn't think anything of it.

I did see it, actually mentioned it to my Hubby (we both laughed) and said it obviously means something else in the US. I hear it often over here - friggin'ell, for frig sake which is actually considered nicer than just coming out with the word Fuck. Never mind...we all frig up sometimes haha =0P

Keli

Ha! Pepper, that's funny. Here people tend to say frick instead of frig when they want a polite(ish) substitution for fuck...at least in my part of the U.S., I don't know about the whole country.

I'm not polite, so I just say fuck. ;)

Lmao!!
I felt like an idiot because it was *obviously*, to me, a brand name of an uber-cool refrigerator that I was ignorant of.
But it wasn't, huh?

Oh my, my face hurts from laughing, not AT you, but a little bit at myself and a tiny bit at you (I know you don't give a frig if I laugh at us).
Umm, Smeg is a brand name, right?
Because it honestly sounds more like a vulgar term to me than frig did.

Your Mom is badass and I wouldn't even try to argue with her; would just assume she's right.
And she makes a wicked-comfy scarf!

Keli

My Mom is a badass, that's where I get it from (the smartass part came from Dad).

She's who taught me how to use tools, build walls, make cabinet doors, change the tire on a car, and stuff. I never did catch on to the whole scarf making thing though.

Yes, Smeg is a brand name....it's an Italian company, I believe.

Hi Keli, I am one of the ones who really thought it was perfect as an American version of SMEG! Four letters, all caps! I knew what you Meant.... and besides... F R I G could and should stand for Frigidaire.... which is the spelling on all those old Fridges! So I think there should be a vote of confidence that you were not in any way being Vulgar! (Maybe old fashioned... ie from before "Frig" meant F***!)Yeah... I guess that just dates Me! Lol!

Keli

Betsy, you're so sweet.
